Pumpkin Dog Treat Recipe

  • 3 Cups of Oats (you can blend them to make them smooth, but my dog seems to like them better lumpy, so I just toss them in)

  • 2 Eggs

  • 1 Cup of 100% Pumpkin (absolutely NO pumpkin pie filling)

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175ºC)

  2. Mix all ingredients together

  3. Roll into small balls (very small, not human-cookie size. I usually make them small enough that they can rest comfortably on my thumb)

  4. Place dough on a cooking sheet covered with parchment paper

  5. Bake for 15-20 minutes (depending on how soft/crunchy your dog prefers their treats)

  6. Let cool completely before serving

  7. Store extras in the fridge

There are a lot of pumpkin treat ideas out there and this is just one of the most simple ones that I tend to use. I also enjoy using a food processor and adding chicken livers, hearts, gizzards, or thighs (usually whatever I can find marked down at the store) to add some protein and make them a little bit higher value.

Please feed to your dog only in moderation and remember that treats should only make up about 10% of your dog’s daily caloric intake according to American Kennel Club guidelines for best-practice.
